So what is the reason / Reason's you won't then ?

As this seems to be a fact many are incapable of ever absorbing, were we to lose in our quest for the NRC the first season our squads ever since would look very different. We can all lament the lack of P & R all we want to, but as our goal is Super League we simply cannot afford not to play the game as it has been set. We were told to get our youth in order, and frankly, we're the side in the division doing it the best by far. We could have filled the side with Aizue's and Paul's and the like, but it would simply have been counter productive. Filling our side with journeymen would have given the perception of a team simply buying our way to the top for short term gain instead of one investing in the future.

In short, our club is focussed on one thing, and we're primed to achieve it. If we had P & R, we'd have done things differently.

We don't have enough money
We haven't fulfilled the criteria.

Heard at the games yesterday that the club are planning on a few announcements during the forthcoming week, so after yestaerday let's hope they come quick and fast!

However the last two years may or may not have panned out, Widnes's thirst for a Super League place means that they would have done whatever was necessary to get the license. That's why they deserve one quite frankly. They've got the money and the mindset. Had Somali Pirates kidnapped SOC then who knows (do they venture up the Mersey?) in that eventuality, but they haven't and SOC is fighting fit.

Had Widnes constantly been at the top of the tree for the last two years there wouldn't have been one anti-Widnes for SL voice - not one. That's what's hacking people off but that isn't the fault of Widnes. That blame for those conditions lies firmly at the door of the RFL.

Am i missing something but havnt Widnes still spent up to the maximum salary cap this season and last? Basically the clubs signings have been crap and even with all this talk of "oh we could have signed the Aizues and Pauls and the like" Widnes still havnt many, if any players in their squad that would be any good at SL level.

I mean there isnt even a single Widnes player i would be happy if Fax signed let alone letting them have a go in SL.

Honestly? I think the age of our squad actually makes us one of the best suitef for SL IMHO, as we have a lot of lads at the right age to become SL squad players at least rather than sign a whole new 25 man roster. Sides like Fax & Barrow may have taken say 4/5 into the first team but the rest would be retiring / back to Championship!

Im just thinking off the top of my head but i fancy Fax would have more players that could give it a shot in SL than Widnes. I mean most of Widnes team are average in this league let alone SL. We would have to sign a few decent fowards but i think our whole back line could make a fist of it in SL.
