Last season we conquered the middle section of the season (aside from Wembley), and came away with nothing. I?m not saying that were intentionally underperforming, but I do wonder whether there is an intention to manage players better and arrive at the back end better prepared to challenge, rather than have Dufty and Williams coming off playing 25+ games at 100mph and just not having it in the tank when it actually counts. But, non of that is worth anything outside of the 6, we have to keep pace with that second batch, Hull, Saints, Leigh & Leeds.
Interesting theory. Even if we make 3/4/5/6 in the playoffs I don't fancy our chances having two playoff games, against increasingly difficult opposition, separated by 7 days and making a GF and competing in it. Recent history shows us it's 1st or 2nd who end up Champions and we have very likely blown the chance of those positions already unless something radically changes.
Agree. We missed the chance last year to run from deep and rest players while chasing a second place finish. Arrived third and busted, and went out with a whimper really, although we were only a score away from KR.
I just look at this team and it has gears that we have not yet found. Sneyd, Williams, Dufty and Walker is as good a spine as this competition can afford. The pack while lightweight can, when we?re on our best form, suffocate teams with line speed and defence. We just need to find a way to cut the penalties and the errors in the ruck, and really find a way to turn the screw. There?s a good team in there somewhere, and we have seen glimpses of that.
Say we finish sixth, if i told you in February that we had to go to Hull away to set up a semi with Wigan or Hull KR I think we would have taken that
